Paying for care can feel confusing, and many people are unsure what help may be available to them. The good news is there are several routes to funding care at home, and you may be entitled to more support than you realise. Below is a simple guide to the main options. We are always happy to talk things through and point you in the right direction.

From daily personal care to overnight support, every package is built around your routine and delivered by carers you can trust. Talk to us about funding and we will find the right route together.
Many people choose to arrange and pay for their own care privately. This gives you full choice and flexibility over the support you receive, with no need to wait for an assessment. We are clear and upfront about our fees so there are no surprises.
If you may struggle to meet the cost of care, your local council can carry out a care needs assessment and a financial assessment to see what support you qualify for. In Nottingham this is arranged through Nottingham City Council or Nottinghamshire County Council, depending on where you live.
If you are assessed as eligible for council funded care, you can choose to receive the money as a Direct Payment. This lets you arrange your own care from a provider you trust, such as Cedars Care, rather than having the council arrange it for you.
Some people with ongoing health needs can receive an NHS Personal Health Budget, an agreed amount of NHS funding to support their health and wellbeing, which can be used towards care at home.
NHS Continuing Healthcare is a package of care arranged and funded by the NHS for people with significant ongoing health needs. Where someone is eligible, this can cover the full cost of their care.
“Dad was nervous about strangers in the house, but his carer became like family within weeks.”
“When Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, we were frightened. Cedars Care understood exactly what we needed.”
“We’ve had the same wonderful carer for three years. She knows Dad’s routines, his moods, his stories.”
Eligibility for funding depends on individual circumstances and an assessment, and the rules can change. We are not financial advisers, but we can explain your options in plain English and signpost you to the right people. Get in touch and we will help you make sense of it all.
