HOME CARE IN NOTTINGHAM

Understanding How to Pay for Care

Paying for care can feel confusing, and many people are unsure what help may be available to them. The good news is there are several routes to funding care at home, and you may be entitled to more support than you realise. Below is a simple guide to the main options. We are always happy to talk things through and point you in the right direction.

OUR SERVICES

Whatever you need, Cedars Care handles it

From daily personal care to overnight support, every package is built around your routine and delivered by carers you can trust. Talk to us about funding and we will find the right route together.

Self Funded Care

Many people choose to arrange and pay for their own care privately. This gives you full choice and flexibility over the support you receive, with no need to wait for an assessment. We are clear and upfront about our fees so there are no surprises.

Local authority funded care

If you may struggle to meet the cost of care, your local council can carry out a care needs assessment and a financial assessment to see what support you qualify for. In Nottingham this is arranged through Nottingham City Council or Nottinghamshire County Council, depending on where you live.

Direct Payments

If you are assessed as eligible for council funded care, you can choose to receive the money as a Direct Payment. This lets you arrange your own care from a provider you trust, such as Cedars Care, rather than having the council arrange it for you.

Personal Health Budgets

Some people with ongoing health needs can receive an NHS Personal Health Budget, an agreed amount of NHS funding to support their health and wellbeing, which can be used towards care at home.

NHS Continuing Healthcare

NHS Continuing Healthcare is a package of care arranged and funded by the NHS for people with significant ongoing health needs. Where someone is eligible, this can cover the full cost of their care.

Other support you may be entitled to

Attendance Allowance, for people over State Pension age who need help with personal care.
Personal Independence Payment, for eligible working age adults with a long term health condition or disability.
Pension Credit, extra income for some people over State Pension age on a low income.
Carer's Allowance, financial support for people who care for someone for a set number of hours each week.
